Healthy Lifestyle Components

A program launched by DOH and Salinas Corporation as their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in promoting healthy lifestyle to reduce prevalence of lifestyle diseases particularly cardiovascular diseases, cancers, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases as the key for Saving Lives, Our Lives.

This program is composed of a series of healthy lifestyle activities to be conducted on a regular basis in a barangay level and to be participated by all residents of every barangay within a municipality. The activities incorporate the 5 key components of the Healthy Lifestyle program of the Department of Health.

What is Nigari Waza?
Do you know that the most natural movement upon waking up is to stretch? Our bodies are meant to move and the Nigari Waza is a set of postures in this manual that can be done at the crack of dawn. "Waza" is Japanese for technique. By practicing this thousand year old- base method of exercise regularly, one should be able to find an enjoyable and effective way to reduce stress, avoid mental and physical tension, and cultivate an inner spiritual strength.

Why Quit Smoking?
Cigarette smoking causes harmful health effects. A cigarette contains chemicals destructive to our health like acetone, ammonia, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen cyanide, methane and benzopyrene.
A person addicted to smoking may suffer from a number of serious and fatal diseases caused by smoking. Smokers are more likely to face respiratory infections and several minor complaints such as coughs and colds.
